From Our Hearts... |
|
Since Karen and I started the HALI Project in 1999, we have been blessed to meet literally thousands of people from all over the country. We are continually amazed to find that no matter where people are from – whether the north, south, east, or west – the issues that concern us and the challenges we face are much the same.
One goal of every program we offer is to reduce the stress families feel because of the unique challenges and extra responsibilities accompanying a child with special needs. However, we don’t only want to reduce stress – we want our families to find hope. We believe that ultimately hope comes from faith, but we can and do hope people understand the laws that govern our families and the skills necessary to make those laws work to our benefit.
I want to close by saying that Karen and I are humbled every day by the work we have been given to do. Personally, I can say that I would have never chosen to be seen as some expert in this field. I would have never had the courage to ask God for a child with disabilities so that I could experience these challenges daily. I know I would have never chosen this. However, what I do know is that I am a better person today than I was twenty years ago because of the lessons I have learned from my daughter. I would consider it a privilege to have the opportunity to share some of those lessons and blessings with you.
Sincerely,
Brad Thompson |
